07/19 ~ At 2145 Denver Fire Dispatch received multiple reports of an apartment fire at 899 Washington Street.  First due Engine 11 made the FDC connections and reported a 5 story occupied multiple dwelling with smoke showing.  Chief 2 quickly arrived and took command, reporting heavy fire from floor 3 extending up and requested an extra Engine & Truck..  Engine 8 went to work on the plug, supplying Engine 11.  Engine 1 laid a second supply to the alley side and placed an attack line into operation.  The Rescue, Tower 1 & Truck 8 went to work searching the fire floor and floors above.  Interior crews found heavy smoke conditions and one apartment on floor 3 well invovled.  Auto-exposure into floor 4 and the roof line also had to be knocked down.  The scene was well under control within 20 minutes, one patient was transported for breathing problems.  Eric Hurst Photos
