07/18 ~ At 0717 South Metro Firefighters responded to several reports a fuel tanker rollover with fuel spill at East Caley Avenue and South Greenwood Plaza Blvd. First Due Tower 32 reported a tanker on its side and fuel on the ground with the driver self extricated and walking. The surrounding area was quickly closed off and crews worked to absorb the fuel that was already running down the gutter. South Metro's Foam Taskforce responded, secured a water supply and stood by for suppression if needed. A unified command was established between South Metro and Greenwood Police and large concert at the adjacent Comfort Dental (Fiddlers Green) Amphitheater created some challenges. An environmental clean up company responded and started drilling operations into the tanker, then an off-load of fuel took place. About 7 hours into the incident, the vehicle was deemed safe and uprighted, no injuries or fire occurred. Eric Hurst Photo
